The Catechists’
Shoebox “How beautiful are the feet
of those who bring the good news.”
Romans 10:15
Note from Tracie… Just want to take a moment and welcome all my
wonderful catechists back from what I hope was a joyful and peaceful
Christmas holiday. As you may or may not know, we lost one of our loving and
gifted catechists in December - Mrs. Stephanie Redick.
Stephanie has given the gift of her talents and time for over 10 years to the
religious education program. She will be dearly missed. However, I know heaven has gained a
beautiful angel to watch over all of us. Listed below my letter is a very interesting webinar for catechists, “Growing as a Catechist”. As we head into the second half of our year I
would like to leave you with a simple reflection followed by a short question
to reflect upon: God calls us to minister when and where we are,
not in some idealized place or time. At times as catechists we may find
ourselves in less than desirable circumstances. Difficult family or work situations,
pressures from home and students can sometimes be a drain on our time to
prepare. If circumstances are beyond our control, we may have to make the
most of them by remembering that God may be calling us to take up our cross.
Nothing is perfect; difficulties arise wherever we are. As disciples we
celebrate our good times and accept the hard ones. The gift in all of it is
our community of faith, our fellow catechists who are on the same journey. We
need to lean on each other and support one another. We are, after all, in
this together and I can’t think of a better mission than one that glorifies
the Lord Jesus Christ. Reflection: Have you ever made a less that
desirable situation better by praying and presenting a positive presence? How
did this affect the situation For the Sake of God’s Children
